It is raining heavily outside. A poor fisherman is silting on the floor of his wooden house, sewing up a hole in his fishing net.
His wife and four children are sitting under a mosquito net in the corner of a room. They are trying to keep warm by rubbing their hands together.
The fisherman is feeling worried because he has not caught a single fish for the past month.
The weather has been stormy and it is dangerous for him to go out to sea.
The fisherman has already sold whatever there is in the house to put food on their old, broken table.
Tonight, the family is having mashed potatoes for dinner again. It is a simple meal but they are thankful for whatever they have.
"I really hope that the storm will clear up soon and the sun will shine again," said the fisherman to his wife.
Sandy was on her way home from school. She was very excited to share some good news with her mother. Sandy was now an English leader! Along the way, she met her neighbour, Amina.
Just then, an object came falling down from their block and hit a car in front of them. It smashed the roof and the windscreen of the car. The object was an antique radio. Luckily, it missed the two girls! They looked up to see who had thrown the radio. Two boys poked their heads out of their kitchen window and looked alarmed.
The owner of the car came. It was old Uncle Roland, their neighbour. When Uncle Roland saw the damage done to his car, he clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground. Fortunately, there were other neighbours who ran to Uncle Roland's aid.
Another neighbour called for the ambulance and the police. Sandy and Amina were worried about Uncle Roland so they stayed with him until he was taken to the hospital.
