1. Elizabeth Choy was the only woman known to be imprisoned by the Japanese during World War 2. Born in Sabah, Elizabeth came to Singapore to further here education. Unfortunately, her mother's death in 1931 left her with the responsibility of raising her six siblings.

2. To support their education, Elizabeth sacrificed hers and entered the workforce to earn a living.

3. During the Japanese Occupation, she secretly provided food, money and medicine to the British prisoners of war.

4. Once these acts were exposed, she was tortured by the Japanese soldiers.

5. Enduring the sufferings, Elizabeth was determined not to divulge the names of any of the people she had helped. After being starved for 200 days, Elizabeth was finally released from prison.
