1. An old neighbour, Mr Tan, had passed away a few months ago. Since then, the boys noticed that his wife, Mrs tan, had begun feeding birds every day without fail at their void deck.

2. The curious boys wondered why and wanted to ask her about it.

3. Finally, one day, they plucked up the courage to go to her.

4. Sensing their presence, Mrs Tan peered up at them and asked the boys, "Are you here to feed the birds as well?" Not expecting the questions, the boys involuntarily gasped in unison.

5. She then continued, "I am waiting for my husband. He promised he will be back soon." The boys turned to looked at each other in bewilderment. They could not understand why Mrs Tan did not know about Mr Tan's death, but they decided to keep mum about it.
